Slowdance Night in Ottawa: Valentine's Day Edition!

Come join us for our "Lucky in Love" Valentine's Edition of Slowdance Night in Ottawa!

With a lending library of designated dancers for all you wallflowers, and a dancecard-booklet to set up dances in advance, Slowdance Night has all slow songs, all night long!

Sway, turn and twirl your way through the hipster's alternative to speed-dating. It's high school with a happy ending, and it's queer, senior, and couple-friendly too.

Faggity Ass Friday! Nightwood & Coulees!

Cum on out, but cum early! Ha! "Butt cum". Nightwood & Coulees both did their thing at the last launch, so it's like that except the show is a benefit for queer and sex-positive sex-ed (i.e. The Sense Project) and there is more emphasis on dressing like teen, as per this Nightlife article by the wonderful Marilis.

Check out the queerific Nightwood video The Bikeriders here and Coulees at Pop Montreal 2008 right here...

Gender Construction Zone

Announcing the new Gender Construction Zone:

Are you a young trans, gender variant or questioning person looking for a community, and people to talk to who can relate to your experiences? Are you looking for a way to explore your gender identity without "out"ing yourself to your friends, family, or others in your life? Do you know someone in a situation like this?

There's a new group in town for for young transgender, gender variant, genderqueer, and questioning people. It will be a peer support, resource sharing, community building, and discussion group to address the current lack of such a group in the Montreal anglophone community. The group will meet weekly on a yet-to-be-determined date, hopefully starting by the end of January.

We aim to make the Gender Construction Zone a totally confidential and non-judgemental space. We aim to welcome people of colour from all class backgrounds, of all sexualities and dis/abilities. If there's anything we can do to better accomodate you let us know.

If you are interested in attending the group or finding out more about it, contact us at tranniesatwork@gmail.com, and we can let you know where and when the group meetings will be held.

Weekly Vieo -- Sexy Music!

Straight from the emerald isle -- bowl mullets, cigarillo mics, ill-fitting pleated satin onesies, awkward reverse-ostrich dance moves (2:20), and rouge, rouge rouge.

It's the Nolan Sisters!

Thanks Alexandra!

Noisemakers for 2009: Kate Lamothe and Nora Rohman!

Check these two out in the latest issue of the weekly Montreal Mirror magazine. They're on fiyah!

"When it comes to queer organizing in the city, especially when it comes to queers having safe fun, Kate Lamothe and Nora Rohman have got it covered. As queer community organizers, they like to keep their options open—kind of like their non-monogamous relationship to each other."
