Distro-ing out the ying-yang and pretty pictures and apologies...

The lady in the above picture is Linda Darnell, star of the film Forever Amber which was based on the raunchy, historic best-seller of the same name, whose protagonist I was named after. After reading Forever Amber, which is the story of a young woman who lies, sleeps and cheats her way to the heights of aristocracy and is destined for destruction, I asked my mother why she named her first born after such a character. My mother's reaction was to become exasperated at my lack of respect for Amber's spirit and vigour, which she found truly inspiring. Moral of the story: Don't judge a woman by her sexual (mis)adventures + follow your cooch to the stars!

Still looking for your Lickety Split 3 fix? We have some new locations coming your way: in Halifax you will soon be able to pick us up at Venus Envy, 1598 Barrington Street.
Also the new issue is now in stock at the Concordia Community Solidarity Coop Bookstore, at Concordia University H-127 on the Downtown SGW Campus.
Also, Come As You Are in Toronto now has the new issue in stock- what an amazing shop! Find it at 701 Queen St W.
And as always, you can find Lickety Split at Monastiraki in the Mile End district, 5478 St. Laurent just below St. Viateur.
On-line you can get Lick-ed at, and soon on the Lickety Split site.
More locations to cum!

I wanted to apologize for three in errors in the otherwise fantabulous new issue of Lickety Split:
- The cover artist, as always, is Sherwin Tjia, not "Tia" as it is written in one instance.
- Tom Fennario's EXCELLENT story was cut off unceremoniously, so we will be publishing it in full glory on the website which should be up by Sunday June 4th.
- Also to be published on the website: the bios of the contributors which were also accidentally cut out.

THIS lady is Heather from Eux Autres, an awesome band on the Grenadine label here in Montreal. The band is cute witty and Janet Weiss produced the new record 'Hell is Eux Autres'. ALL THIS TO SAY that I will be playing an Eux Autres track on this month's edition of Audio Smut, the monthly radio show about sex on Montreal's CKUT 90.3fm. This month's show is a first time for everything, and will take a look at early childhood sexuality, sexual firsts and virginity. It's all happening June 7 from 6-7pm, and y'all can always check out the on-line CKUT archives for past shows!

Also, a bit more about the bookfair:

The Montreal Anarchist Book fair and Festival of Anarchy is the largest anarchist event in North America, and an important exchange of anarchist and anti-authoritarian ideas. The Bookfair is for anarchists and non-anarchists alike, in French and English, with participants from all over North America and beyond. Founded in May 2000, the bookfair is now entering its seventh year.

Anarchist Bookfair events include book and information tables, workshops, readings, films, presentations, walking tours and much more. Once again, the Anarchist Bookfair will be followed -- on Sunday, May 21 -- by a full day dedicated to anarchist-themed workshops and presentations. As in the past, a "Festival of Anarchy" will take place during the weeks preceeding the Bookfair, with diverse events organized by anarchist and anti-authoritarian groups and individuals.

Check out the website at

Be sure to check out the Head and Hands table in the main room as well as Stella's.

Lickety Split 3 is born- alive and well!

The party is over, but fresh in my heart and in my my face (undereye circles, breakouts...)
The Goods was amazing, and the Heavyweight collective who were also celebrating their 8th anniversary that night (live) painted this amazing likeness of Prince- who is total sex + a guitar! Lickety Split cookies were served, and zines were stamped. Lots of people came out just to pick up a copy of the zine and go! The afterparty at Red Bird Gallery and Studios was alive for me with crazy dance beats by DJs Backdoor and Julie D, among others. I got tipsy, had fresh conversations about porn + feminism, and danced my ass off until the cops came by around 6 or 7 in the morning on a noise complaint with, like, 15 coppers and 4 cop cars and 2 vans. My friend Giddy got a ticket for resisting the evacuation and so much chaos...but motherfuckin fun!!!
Thanks to all who came out, and big thanks to Key Kode for stapling 300 zines all day Saturday and striking the Lickety Split table at The Goods while I whirled away to Red Bird.
Lickety Split #3 should be available at Monastiraki (5478 St. Laurent) and I will be mailing off copies to Toronto and Ottawa soon as well as biking all over Montreal on Friday to get this issue ditroed while she's still in heat. I will post a list of locations once they're out. Also look out for #3 on the site soon.

Along with all this excitement, the monthly sex-related radio show AUDIO SMUT that I co-host aired last night. It's a fun new show that airs in Montreal on CKUT 90.3 FM Radio McGill, which is an amazing community radio station with a diverse schedule. I am so gald to be becoming a part of this community and to be working so steadily with my two co-hosts, Sara and Stephanie!!!
The show airs the first Wednesday of every month during the regularly scheduled Hersay hour, from 6-7pm, which also airs three other right one, women-focused shows: Owl (Older Women Live), Spitfyre (women of colour), and a show for Mum's whose title escapes me right now...I'll post it later. AUDIO SMUT has a monthly theme and yesterday's was 'sex + marriage'called "Going down on the aisle". If you missed it check out the advanced archives here. Just type in the date (May 3rd) and time (from 18:00 to 19:00, or 19:05 to make sure...).

Next month's show is called "A first time for everything", and will air June 7th, from 6-7pm. Tell your friends!!!
