Check out this fun podcast episode where I (Amber) am interviewed about Lickety Split and the upcoming issue, The Risk Issue and the July 4th. Check it:

"With a turnaround time that would daunt most college radio stations, but is par for the course in the big leagues with major players like Radio Congo, we came up with episode 5. A majestic palace of sophistry, loving communication, and dialogue. Our guests this week were Ken Vandermark, the acclaimed saxophonist whose name you might recognize from Powerhouse Sound and The Flying Luttenbachers; Amber Goodwyn, the publisher of Canada’s, nay North America’s best smut zine, Lickety Split; and finally, the beloved Claude Bernier, logistics master and jack of all trades with the Suoni per il Popolo festival, who came in to the studio to chat us up, and deliver exclusive Suoni sounds recorded over the course of the festival from Vic Chestnutt and The Sun Ra Arkestra, live at Sala Rossa.

This Episode’s Songs…

Leon Ware Rockin’ You Eternally, The Velvelettes Je Veux Crier (My Foolish Heart Keeps Hanging on a Memory), Di Melo A vida seus métodos diz calma, The Sun Ra Arkestra Excerpt (Live at Sala Rossa), Vic Chestnutt Excerpt (Live at Sala Rossa), Marcia Hines You Gotta Let Go, Sadina I Want That Boy"

Like to party? Call for Volunteers!

Lickety Split is a pansexual smut zine dedicated to encouraging sex-positive expression and thought through artistic contributions in the form of written word, photography and other art forms.

Over the years this Zine has really picked up steam and it growing at an incredible rate, Lickety Split is in need of some help, help in the form of people power!

Starting with our July 4th Launch of issue #6, we'll be looking to recruit a body of volunteers to help us with the planning and execution of our events.

We'll be hosting our first Volunteer Training Session next week at Le Cagibi (5490 St. Laurent). All we need is an hour of your time to give you a run down of the venue, walk you through tasks and let you sign up for shifts. The session will be held from 6-7pm on Monday, June 30th, quick run through with some tea and cupcakes. Can't make it? Get in touch and we might be able to work something out on another day.

Please email us so we will have an idea as to how many people will be attending at lickthevolunteer@gmail.com
Great thank you and I look forward to meeting you on Tuesday!

Lard: Like Grease but Thicker and Queerer

These days I'm sure you'd be hard pressed to find someone who isn't at least a little bit familiar with the runaway phenomenon that is Grease. Starring an endlessly plucky Olivia Newton John as the virginal Sandy and an endlessly "questioning" John Travolta as Danny "greased lightening" Zuko, this musical classic has been known to make people break out into song and dance regardless of their position on the Kinsey scale. Packed with kickass costumes and some truly cut-throat dance offs, Grease also featured the sassy Rizzo. A worthy role model for all rule-breaking women, this "teenage nare-do-well" and leader of the pink ladies was a ball buster in more ways than one. Unfortunately, enjoyable as it was, the original Grease didn't offer much hope of romance for the fat and queer amongst us and that's why we can all rejoice over Big Moves' incredible spin-off, Lard.

In town until June 22 as part of the Montreal Fringe Festival, this group of hefty honeys are offering a delectable treat for both the eyes and ears. Flipping Grease's traditional hetero summer lovin' story on its head and replacing it with a sizzling stand-off between a fat femme and a bootylicious butch, this version is sure to get to your heart by way of their bellies. With a storyline chock full of fat positivity, fun and food it's not to be missed.

Weekly Video -- Freddy Mercury VS The Odds

This week, to atone for my remissness last week, I present not one but two sexy videos. If I had more time (read: motivation and skill) I would create the mash-up video to end all mash-ups using these two videos. In the absence of such brilliance your imagination (the mind's youtube) will be required as you indulge in the varied flavours of sexiness offered up by The Odds and Freddy Mercury.

Sex(y) Owies

Go out and get some already! Seriously, though, this post was inspired by the lovely Lola Lamb, one of Montreal's latest and greatest burly-q darlings. Recently, she revealed to me that there was a time when she was doing so many glamour shoots and strip shows that her eyelids became swollen from the application and removal of a few too many sets of Marilyn-style eyelashes. How fatally sexy is that? Reminds me of when I announced "My vagina is sore from too much sex" at an organizational meeting for the Vagina Monologues. You know, they thought it would be a good idea to go around the table and talk about how our vaginas were feeling (!?), and boy I am telling you, the envious glares I got after that little utterance were none too pretty.

Yes, it is nice from time to time to relish in the sexy smugness that can only come from a tell-tale little mark that lets everyone around us know just how desirous and desired we are. Sometimes they act as reminders or souvenirs--as in the time when my highschool boyfriend left a hickey on my breast that lasted the whole duration of his three week trip to Italy. Other times they can send a congratulatory ripple of relief through one's social circle as in when your friends know you've finally gotten laid from viewing a few burst blood vessels on your neck. And, I'm not just talking about hickeys here, either. Occasionally, there's a smidge of pleasure to be had from knowing you're so naughty that sometimes it might have to hurt just a little.

P.S. I know you know, but: STIs do not count as sexy injuries. Please don't fumble your condom or dental dam and end up with an un-sex(y) owie.

A note on the final hours of making Lickety Split #6

THIS IS IN REAL TIME
Here we are again, *safesolvent on his MacBookPro and me on my iMac, side by side in the midnight hour. For some reason, it always comes down to this, no matter how profesh we try to roll. K$, bless her heart, is remotely checking in on us as she can't be here.
Keywords: Pinnoli pizza + ice tea + soda, Mac geeks, discussions of about the Mac mouse "clit" (ew!- ed.), how to properly arrange ones actual workspace..., coffee at 9pm, FTPs and drop boxes, carrying arm loads of uncut covers down Verdun streets and up stairs!
